Does Coffee Upset your stomach

We have many customers who tell us our coffee is
easier to digest, or doesn't upset their stomach,
when other coffees still do.

I have always been interested in how this can be??
If you LOVE coffee, but suffer from acid reflux or gut inflamation, this info is for you. Bay Espresso Organic might be your answer.

I've been doing some research into what actually makes our coffee gentler to digest and such a popular choice?
Not all coffees are created equal.

Arabica vs Robusta:

This is the species name of a coffee plant. Our coffee blends are 100% Arabica beans.
These beans are grown at higher altitudes, grow slower and develop sweeter, more complex flavours than Robusta coffee.
Arabica is also lower in caffeine than Robusta. Caffeine stimulates the production of stomach acid, and relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter (that's the muscle that keeps stomach contents from rising up). That's what heart burn is. So if coffee gives you acid reflux avoid Robusta, and look for 100% Arabica.

If a bag of coffee doesn't state that it is
100% Arabica it probably won't be.

All our coffees are Organic:

Non-organic coffee is one of the most chemically treated crops globally. And non organic coffee plants are typically sprayed with synthetic herbicides, pesticides and fungicides - including glyphosate, (the active ingredient in Roundup). SO when you're drinking non-organic coffee you may be regularly consuming traces of these sprays. These are what slowly alter your gut health, causing inflammation and bacterial imbalances.
So if you have a sensitive stomach that is easily irritated look out for only Organic coffee.

Roast Style:

We roast a medium/dark style coffee. Darker roasts mean longer roasting times. Coffee beans naturally contain Chlorogenic acids. These contribute to the coffees bitter flavours and antioxidant properties. They aren't harmful but in high concentrations they can irritate the stomach lining. Longer roasting times help break down these acidic compounds which generally means it will also be gentler on your stomach.

The result ...

Bay Espresso Coffees are lower in acidity and naturally sweeter. Our blends are bold and satisfying but, we're pleased to know, easier to digest. You can enjoy your morning coffee without the after effects.

I thought all that info was so interesting. I hope you did too and have helped you enjoy your coffees even more.
